SOUTHEASTERN, Conn. – The beginning of summer vacation doesn’t mean we stop learning. Summer reading programs at libraries throughout southeastern Connecticut are kicking off their summer reading program, "A Universe of Stories" in the coming days. See below for all of the different libraries’ events.
Groton Public Library
Join the Groton Public Library for a Frisbee show with two-time world freestyle Frisbee champion Todd Brodeur, June 21 at 10 a.m. His high-energy, interactive performance captivates audiences by demonstrating basic tricks and catches. He includes a unique learning lesson on Frisbee history and aerodynamics as well. All Summer Reading Program kickoff registrants will receive a free Frisbee (while supplies last). Everyone who attends the kickoff will also be entered to win a pair of Pawtucket Red Sox tickets for a game this season.
Bill Memorial Library
Summer is here, and that means it’s time for summer reading! Teens entering grades 6-12 in the fall are invited to the kickoff of "A Universe of Stories" at the Bill Memorial Library in the city of Groton, June 25 at 6 p.m. The evening will include party games, air brush tattoos, and make-your-own tie-dye t-shirts. Teens will also have a chance to register for our summer reading program and pick up their reading log. Participants are asked to bring their own white shirt for dying. This event is free, and all other materials will be supplied. Registration is required. Call the library at (860) 445-0392 to reserve your space.
Mystic & Noank Library
The Mystic & Noank Library announces A Universe of Stories: Science and Performing Arts Series. The series starts today at 2 p.m., in the Amer Room. These programs are free and open to the public; no registration is required.
