MYSTIC, Conn. - All Aboard! The Polar Express Holiday Railroad is now boarding in the Mystic & Noank Library’s (MNL) Children's Reading Room again this year. The Polar Express Holiday Railroad will be running through Jan. 11. This is the 10th anniversary of holiday trains at MNL. To celebrate, our old Polar Express has now been retired after many years of on time departures, not to mention remarkable endurance.

Our new Polar Express is a new state of the art, remote controlled train, with many new features that will entertain young engineers, their parental guidance, not to mention library staff, who will be treated to the many new sounds our new locomotive will make through the New Year.

The new technology brings some new responsibilities, however. The Controller will be at the desk in the children's room. Any adult is welcome to it, with the help of their young engineers. It must be returned to the desk when done. The controller is intuitive and easy to use. The speed control works best with a slow start. Turn it about half way and wait. The little engine will start slowly and get up to speed. No full throttle runs, please!
