NMRTU increases screening protocol

Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Paul Disney and Hospitalman Taylor Cherry screen patients for COVID-19 symptoms before admitting them to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit (NMRTU), March 20. NMRTU and other tenant commands onboard Naval Submarine Base New London and across the Navy are implementing increased hygiene protocols and social distancing initiatives to prevent the spread of illness during the COVID-19 pandemic. NMRTU Groton (the Clinic) highlights that the medical screening tent being utilized has been organized in accordance with CDC social distancing recommendations which minimize direct contact for the safety of both patients and staff members. As an additional safety precaution, surgical face masks have been provided to Clinic staff. N95 respirators are specifically designed for close contact exposure risks such as typically expected during a medical examination. The Clinic and its parent command, NMRTC New England, remain committed to the safety of patients and staff and will continue to communicate efforts taken to ensure a safe environment.
