Veterans Coffee House reopens
NORWICH, Conn. - The Norwich Veterans Coffee House, located at the Rose City Senior Center, 8 Mahan Drive in Norwich, will host a meeting Sept. 1 and 15 from 9 to 11 a.m.
The following will apply, please be cooperative:
Wear masks and social distance (6 feet ).
Bring your own lawn chair, drinks and snacks.
The head/restrooms will not be available.
Bring an umbrella for shade from the sun. (Some tree shade is available)
Postponed if inclement weather.
Virtual ride supports Homes for Our Troops
NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. - For the 17th year, Texas Roadhouse will host a nationwide motorcycle ride to benefit Homes For Our Troops. This year, participants will ride separately, but enjoy a similar experience as in years past, all to support Veterans.
Home For Our Troops is a nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially-adapted custom homes for post 9-11 veterans, severely injured in the line of duty. The organization has completed more than 295 homes in 42 states with an additional 79 projects currently underway.
For each $30 donation, registrants receive a commemorative T-shirt, a Virtual Ride 2020 Patch, and a food voucher to use by Oct. 31.
Online registration only at HFOTUSA.org/bikerun. The first 200 individuals to register will be guaranteed a commemorative T-shirt.

Each year, more than 8,000 riders participate in the Texas Roadhouse Ride for Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). Over the past 16 years, the Texas Roadhouse ride has raised more than $1.25 million nationwide, to help severely injured post-9/11 Veterans rebuild their lives.
NAMI to host Zoom support group meetings
NORWICH, Conn. - In lieu of regular meetings in Norwich and Niantic, the National Alliance On Mental Illness (NAMI) Southeast Connecticut is now holding Family and Young Adult Support Groups online, via Zoom.
Online Family Support Groups
For family, partners, friends and significant others of adults living with mental illness. Meetings will take place at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday and Friday of each month.
Online Young Adult Connections Group
Are you between the ages of 18-29 (give or take!) and in need of emotional support? Connect with other young adults and discuss everyday life challenges and participate in thought provoking activities. Meetings will take place at 6 p.m., the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
Procedure for connecting to NAMI support groups

Summer 2020 Virtual Youth Art Workshops
STONINGTON, Conn. - In place of their usual in-person summer art workshops, this year The La Grua Center is excited to offer weekly youth art projects via their YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCou19r8AjRVsJmnIPjf1rBQ/. Videos will be released on Mondays through the end of August.
