Soldier Songs and Voices in Norwich
NORWICH, Conn. - Bill Thibeault, a Vietnam veteran from Norwich and long-time regional musician is working to establish a Connecticut chapter of Soldier Songs and Voices in Norwich. Thibeault will be holding weekly free music and songwriting workshops for veterans and active duty persons dealing with PTSD. These worksops will take place at Strange Brew Pub every Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Workshops will be open to any veterans or active duty persons dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries or any other issues where music can help heal. As a vet personally suffering with PTSD, Thibeault has found that music has been a friend of his for the past 50 years, after surviving the collision and sinking of the USS Frank E. Evans June 3, 1969, losing 74 of his shipmates. The workshops will be very informal and a way for like-minded vets to interact and learn how to tell their stories in songs.
