GROTON, Conn. – In the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Navy Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) remains open.
Located in the FFSC, Building 83, on Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London, the NMRCS Office’s current hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Staffed mainly by volunteers, the Office may be working with a reduced number of personnel at any given time; the patience and understanding of patrons is appreciated.
The office will continue to provide routine assistance as well as assist with the needs that might arise from the pandemic. They have established policies to deal with loss of income (whether that be spouse, retiree, or an active duty second job), delayed PCS moves, and associated expenses or medical expenses. If a patron has a request that does not fit the established policies, the office will seek an policy exception for a reasonable request to NMCRS Headquarters.
The office will also accept digitally signed preauthorization forms as well as Powers of Attorney that allow spouses to do financial transactions. They can also accept e-mail from a service member from a "Navy.mil" account granting permission to assist.
