Anti-racism resources beyond the stacks

Please join the Mystic & Noank Library for a resource guide and discussion about anti-racism materials in the library and online, July 2 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Learn about important books, essays, documentaries, research, and studies that inform anti-racism work and movements. This resource guide is intended to be a starting point for those looking to learn more about anti-racism and how to support activists fighting for justice for people of color. Close with a discussion and reflection about these resources, what you'd like to research next, and what steps forward we each can take to promote anti-racism in our own lives and spaces.

The Mystic & Noank Library is dedicated to creating safe and respectful spaces for people to speak with one another. Hate speech targeted to any participants in the discussion will not be tolerated.

You must register to attend this program. To protect the security of the meeting, the join link will be provided the day of the meeting via e-mail. You can find more resources about how to use Zoom, a video conferencing program, on their website.

How to job search smart in the digital age

Many people are out of work. To make matters worse, looking for work during a pandemic makes a difficult task almost impossible. You can't go to networking events and all the interviews are virtual. These additional challenges mean you must search smart and make sure you're using technology to increase your chances. But be careful, as technology can also be a trap, leading you to spend your efforts where there is the most competition and the least likelihood of success.

In this interactive workshop, July 6 from 4 to 5:30 p.m., learn to recognize the traps and practice strategies that diversify your search methods and get you to the decision makers. Organizations need new staff during the pandemic--especially people who are good at problem solving and working under pressure. Search smart and get yourself noticed.

Learn with Jean Baur, a speaker, career coach, and author who has worked in the outplacement industry for 20 years.

You must register to attend this program. To protect the security of the meeting, the join link will be provided the day of the meeting via e-mail.
