MSLC honors local military volunteers

The Military Superintendents Liaison Committee (MSLC) of Southeastern Connecticut honored local volunteers who have forged partnerships between the military and civilian communities, during their 18th annual MSLC breakfast at the Coast Guard Academy Officers' Club June 6. Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE) New London volunteers recognized during the ceremony included: Sonar Technician (Submarine) 1st Class Jerry Verant assigned to PCU Oregon (SSN 793), Master Chief Electronics Technician (Nuclear) Anthony Liss assigned to Nuclear Regional Maintenance Department, Jessica Bergeron a Navy spouse and Sonar Technician (Submarine) 2nd Class Matt Baird assigned to Naval Submarine Support Facility. Capt. Todd Moore, commanding officer, SUBASE New London, served as one of the guest speakers during the breakfast. “When you meet one volunteer it’s impressive,” said Moore. “When you meet a whole room of them it is eye watering.” The MSLC is a partnership between SUBASE New London, the academy and local school districts to improve the transition process for military children and their families.
