PATRICK AIR FORCE BASE, Fla.— In observance of National American Indian Heritage Month, celebrated each November, the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), proudly announces the release of National American Indian Heritage set of three posters and artwork available for download from DEOMI’s public website, www.defenseculture.mil
The Department of Defense National American Indian Heritage Month poster set is the ninth in a series of posters commemorating the 75th Anniversary of World War II. This year the standard theme is in support of the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s efforts to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. This year’s theme is: Honoring the Past, Securing the Future.
In 1924, Congress enacted the Indian Citizenship Act. In 1986 Congress passed a law and President Ronald Reagan signed the proclamation authorizing American Indian Week. In 1990, President George H. W. Bush designated November as National American Indian Heritage Month. After 100 years of efforts to recognize American Indians, National American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month is celebrated to recognize native cultures and educate the public about the heritage, history, art, and traditions of the American Indians and Alaskan Natives.
All DEOMI observance month poster files are in the public domain. All DEOMI special observance poster images are hi-resolution and may be used to print posters up to 30 x 40 inches. DEOMI does not have the capability to print posters and mail them out to our customers upon request. Users, however, must credit the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute when using them.1
