Babies & Books

Join us for this drop-in program for children ages birth to 24 months and a caregiver, Mondays at 10 a.m. Babies will enjoy 20 minutes of nursery rhymes, simple stories, songs, finger plays, and movements. After storytime, open playtime will be offered, giving children a chance to learn social skills and adults time to connect with other caregivers. Space is limited to the first 12 children each week. Dates are: July 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Far-Out Films

It's show time! Take a break from the heat and watch a family-friendly film at the Groton Public Library, Mondays at 2 p.m. All films are rated PG.

Cosmic Crafts

Get ready for a galactic good time! Drop in Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and make crafts based on the Summer Reading Program theme, "A Universe of Stories.” The out-of-this-world line-up includes crafts based on planets, space travel, and aliens. Dates are: July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.

Sing & Stomp

Join us for an active, music-enriched program open to all, Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Sing & Stomp is a noisy half hour of songs, dance, and fingerplays. Caregivers are encouraged to participate with their child in following directions, exploring rhythm, rhyme, and creative play. Dates are: July 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.

Fun Friday 

Drop by the Groton Public Library to play with our stash of Lego blocks, July 5 from 10 a.m.to noon. Design your own creations or try one of our themed challenges. Free and open to all ages. Registration is not required.

Family Chess Club

Chess enthusiasts of all ages and ability levels are welcome to join us for the Groton Public Library's Chess Club, Saturdays at 10 a.m. Whether you have no experience and want to learn how to play or you know the game and are looking to meet and interact with new players, make the Library's Chess Club part of your Saturday routine. Bring your own board or use one of ours. Dates are: July 6, 13, 20, and 27.

Sit, Stay, Read!

Join us for a chance to read with our very special guest, Phantom the therapy dog, July 6 at 2 p.m. Registration is not required; readers are selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Summertime Stories

Join us for this drop-in program designed for children ages 3 and up and a caregiver, Thursdays at 10 a.m. Participants will enjoy 30 minutes of stories, songs, fingerplays, and more. Afterwards, children are invited to participate in a small craft and activity, followed by open play. Dates are: July 11, 18, and 25.

Fun Fridays

Come to the Groton Public Library to engage in several energetic building challenges, featuring over a dozen building materials, July 12 at 10 a.m. Children ages 5-12 are invited to create with us in this 50-minute workshop. At the end, their creations are posted online to share with family and friends. Space is limited, and registration is required.

Water Rockets

3, 2, 1...blastoff at the Groton Public Library! Join us July 19 at 10 a.m., in designing your very own water rocket, and then watch as it shoots into the sky using our special launchpad. Free and open to all ages. Registration is not required.

Phases of the Moon

Using hands-on activities and real-world math problems, students will learn about the phases of the moon and its relationship to Earth, as well as the differences between large- and small-scale models, July 26 at 10 a.m. This program is free and open to children in grades K-5. Space is limited, and registration is required. This program is in partnership with the Mystic Seaport.
